The proposed new buildings, a bowling house and a bathhouse are meant to revive the picturesque nature from the 19th century of the former spa village, Schweizermühle, which is located in Eastern Saxony. The phenomenon of ‘reflection’ is the guiding principle for the proposed design. The moment we see a reflective surface, according to Foucault, the space  that we anticipate in the reflection becomes reality since the reflecting surface itself is real and is physically connected to its surrounding. At the same time, the reflection remains unreal, since we can perceive it only from our own point of view. This suggests a real, unreal space. The proposed buildings and their reflections, which is produced and defined by water, create this unreal, real space. In their simplicity, however, they afford visitors an unobstructed encounter with the landscape that remains honest and intense. In their form, these structures invite people to meet one another, just as “Wandelhallen“ once did. The synchronistic pair faces each other like two siblings. They resemble one another in their appearance, yet they have different identities.
